David Slade On Board for The Last Voyage of the Demeter?
Man, how things change over time. When we first covered The Last Voyage of the Demeter, Marcus Nispel was set to direct. Thankfully we dodged that bullet because everything would have been orange and riddled with lens flares. Now there’s talk of some new and very competent blood to take the helm.
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog, David Slade, who directed vampires in 30 Days of Night and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, is in talks to tackle the blood-sucking genre again with Phoenix Pictures’ long-in-the-works period horror movie.
The lead role is not cast, but Ben Kingsley and Noomi Rapace are attached to co-star. Phoenix is in active talks with actors for the lead role.
The script, written by Season of the Witch‘s Bragi Schut over a decade ago, places the ship’s voyage center stage in a tale that (much like the original Alien) will illustrate for viewers what happens when a not-so-human passenger slaughters its transporters one-by-one.
Bring it on!
