Flesh of the Void Trailer Is the Most Disturbing Thing We’ve Seen in a Long Time
Like it or not, we’re all going to die at one point. And whilst many of us make up comforting stories about what happens after we breathe our last breath, the truth is that nobody truly knows what happens when our bodies cease functioning.
Austrian filmmaker James Quinn decided to explore the concept of what happens when we die with his new film, Flesh of the Void, which recently debuted a trailer. The purpose of the film is to imagine if “death really were the most horrible thing one can experience,” and I think they achieved that goal because the trailer looks like one of the most disturbing things I’ve seen in a long time.
Flesh of the Void, which will be Quinn’s feature film debut after having directed a number of shorts, does not yet have a release date (and no cast members have currently been listed), but we’ll definitely be keeping this incredibly unsettling-looking piece of cinema on our watch lists.
From the Press Release:
With Flesh of the Void, Sodom & Chimera Productions brings you a horribly disturbing and controversial experimental horror feature, visualizing what it could feel like if death really were the most horrible thing one can experience. The film was shot almost entirely on expired Super 8 film from the 80s (mostly Kodachrome) and is intended as a trip through the deepest fears of human beings, exploring its subject in a highly grotesque, violent, and extreme manner.
The film is currently still in production, with a couple of shoots still ahead, and should be finished by the end of May, at which point it will enter the screening and festival phase, with a Blu-ray and VOD release planned afterwards.
