I remember it like it was yesterday. Brooklyn, New York, 1992 … I was standing in Pete’s Pizza ordering a slice when from behind me I hard the words “FINISH HIM” uttered from an arcade machine. I turned to see a ninja ripping out the spine of some dude in white and then holding it up like a trophy. It had me at “hello”.

Of course that game was Mortal Kombat, and web series director Kevin Tancharoen just released a new image on his Twitter page that brought all of those memories flooding back. Mortal Kombat is now in production in Vancouver for release later this year.

Thus far the series stars Jeri Ryan, (“Star Trek: Voyager”) as the headstrong “Lieutenant Sonya Blade”, Michael Jai White (Spawn, Kill Bill, The Dark Knight) as “Major Jackson ‘Jax’ Briggs” and Darren Shahlavi (300) as the sly and cunning “Kano.”
