Animated Horror Makes a Comeback with Feature Length Stop-Motion Film Chuck Steel: Night of the Trampires
I don’t think we’ve had a decent adult stop-motion/puppet movie since Hell and Back two years ago, so Chuck Steel: Night of the Trampires is going to be filling one pretty big void.
Directed by Michael Mort, the adult animated flick serves as a feature length adaptation of his 2013 short Chuck Steel: Raging Balls of Steel Justice, which you can watch below:
The film features the titular badass Chuck Steel waging war against legions of homeless/vampire hybrids known as Trampires. It’s set in the 1980s, which explains the punk rock hairstyles and soundtrack. The Welsh studio Animortal created over 400 puppets for the production in addition to over 50 ornate sets, although there doesn’t appear to be any voice actors confirmed as of yet.
Chuck Steel: Night of the Trampires will have its very own panel at the MCM London Comic Con on Saturday 27 May, so be sure to head on over there if you feel like the world needs more adult-oriented animated films.
Synopsis
It’s no longer 1985 – it’s 1986, and Chuck Steel has work to do if he is to prevent the worst plague ever to hit Los Angeles – a scourge of deadly Trampires, mutant hybrids of vampires and bums.
