Sleepy Hollow Cancelled by Fox; No Update Yet on The Exorcist

It’s that time of year again when TV networks engage in what’s become known as “Upfronts,” presentations to advertisers in order for the networks to get the financial support they need to fund their upcoming seasons; and in advance of Fox’s turn on the 15th of this month, they’ve announced the cancellation of “Sleepy Hollow.”

Per EW, the show’s recently concluded fourth season will be its last.  As fans of “Sleepy Hollow” are well aware, it has struggled to stay on track creatively following the departure of original co-lead Nicole Beharie, and Season 4 averaged only 3.3 million viewers and a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49, including DVR. So the writing has been on the wall for a while despite how engaging Tom Mison has been as Ichabod Crane.

As for Fox’s other horror series, “The Exorcist,” it’s looking like we won’t find out that show’s fate until next week… so stay tuned! In the meantime, RIP Ichabod!
