Pour Yourself a Scotch Lodge, a Cocktail Inspired By Twin Peaks

One of my favorite channels on YouTube is Distinguished Spirits, which is devoted to showing people how to make delicious cocktails. However, what I adore about the channel is that the first third to half of the videos are devoted to the history of the drink and explaining a bit about it. So while I’m learning a recipe for a classy, delightful beverage, I’m also getting an interesting and informative lesson about a cocktail’s origins.

Just a couple of days ago, the channel uploaded a recipe for a cocktail known as the “Scotch Lodge.” Based off another drink called the “Black Lodge,” which comes from the iconic location in the “Twin Peaks” universe, this drink uses “…Scotch Whiskey, Cynar, Punt e Mes (Sweet Vermouth), Cherry Liqueur, Orange Bitters and an Orange twist.

As the channel explains, “The drink was a riff on an earlier drink Klus created called the Black Lodge, which was named after the creepy, netherworld as experienced mostly through the eyes of Special Agent Dale Cooper in ‘Twin Peaks.’ The Black Lodge was a the same as the Scotch Lodge only the base spirit was overproof Rye Whiskey instead of smoky Scotch Whiskey.

If you’re into having a tasty beverage at the end of a long day, one that you can sit back and sip at your leisure, then I recommend not only checking out this video but also giving this channel a chance!
