The Haunting on Long Island to Explore The Amityville Murders
Still no official word from Dimension regarding the June 30th release of Amityville: The Awakening, but that’s not stopping anyone from exploring every idea possible concerning a new movie centering on the most infamous home on Earth.
A quick look at The Film Catalogue revealed that CeneTel Films’ (I Spit on Your Grave) next project will be The Haunting on Long Island: The Amityville Murders, which will focus on the events surrounding the night when Ronald Joseph “Butch” DeFeo, Jr., murdered his father, mother, two brothers, and two sisters with a rifle while they slept.
Daniel Farrands (Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy) is set to direct from his own screenplay with production starting this summer. No other details are available at press time, but we do have the plot crunch for you along with some teeny weeny artwork!
Synopsis:
On the night of November 13, 1974, Ronald DeFeo, Jr., took a high-powered rifle and murdered his entire family as they slept. At his trial DeFeo claimed that “voices” in the house commanded him to kill.
Thirteen months later the Lutz family bought the house and stayed only 28 days before fleeing in terror. Their nightmarish ordeal shocked the world in The Amityville Horror. The Lutzes may have escaped from Amityville with their lives … but the DeFeos weren’t so lucky. This is their story.
