Bryan Fuller Discusses a Possible Return of Hannibal
The “Hannibal” fan community, who affectionately call themselves Fannibals, have been desperate for a return of Bryan Fuller’s psychological thriller series, which was cancelled after its third season. The knowledge that Fuller intended to venture into a storyline that would essentially retell The Silence of the Lambs cuts to the core of many viewers, myself included.
The possibilities of what might have been during that storyline are seemingly endless, especially with where the relationship between Dr. Lecter and Will Graham in the final episodes was going.
While it seems unlikely that a fourth season will come about anytime soon, Fuller isn’t giving up on making it happen. Speaking with Mick Garris on the Post Mortem with Mick Garris podcast, Fuller explains that he’s still thinking very heavily about a story that could entice everyone to return to the table.
“I have conversations with [‘Hannibal’ executive producer] Martha De Laurentiis, Mads [Mikkelsen], and Hugh [Dancy]. We’re all excited about the prospect of returning to the story. There’s some hurdles to get through… [but] I just had a great idea for Season 4. There’s an interesting next chapter in the relationship between Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter that would be fascinating to unpack. I’ve shared it with the gentlemen, and they’re both keen on it,” Fuller told Garris [courtesy of JoBlo].
As a huge fan of “Hannibal,” there is nothing more I would like to see than the show return and receive the love and wide recognition that it so rightfully deserves!
