First On-Set Image and Info – Tobe Hooper’s Djinn
Tobe Hooper’s Djinn has officially gone into production, and we’ve got the first image from the set as well as the first rock solid info about what the film is just waiting to wet your whistle! Dig it!
As per an article in The National:
“The film is set in 2015 and follows the story of Khaled and Salama, a couple who return home from America to discover their apartment in a luxury high-rise, built on the site of the deserted fishing village, is also home to malevolent beings,” we learn of the plot.
“There is not that much blood,” said Daniela Tully, the film’s German producer. “It is more of a supernatural horror rather than a thriller or slasher horror. It is a tale told with a lot of respect for the Emirati traditions, and it will stay with you for a long time.”
Casting is still under way, but anyone joining the crew must abide by one strict rule: No one can mention the word “djinn” while on set. The measure has been taken out of respect and because it is thought that speaking the name could conjure one up. We’d stay tight-lipped just to be on the safe side.
