SXSW 2011: Ti West Talks The Innkeepers
Undoubtedly, writer/director Ti West is making quite a name for himself within the horror community in just a very short time. It’s hard to believe his directorial debut The Roost was about only 6 years ago, but here we are now celebrating the recent South by Southwest premiere of The Innkeepers, West’s fifth feature horror film to date.
We caught up with West during the festival in Austin to chat about all things Innkeepers-related, how working on The House of the Devil led to his latest efforts and heard his thoughts on why he feels his ‘brand of horror’ plays well with fans of old-school horror.
Check out our video interview with West below and look for more on The Innkeepers (review here) soon!
Synopsis
After over one hundred years of service, The Yankee Pedlar Inn is shutting its doors for good. The last remaining employees – Claire (Sara Paxton) and Luke (Pat Healy) – are determined to uncover proof of what many believe to be one of New England’s most haunted hotels. As the Inn’s final days draw near, odd guests check in as the pair of minimum wage “ghost hunters” begin to experience strange and alarming events that may ultimately cause them to be mere footnotes in the hotel’s long unexplained history.
