The True Story Sex Trafficking Film Selling Isobel Has Been Acquired
Hoo boy, this is a tough piece of news to write about. In advance, I encourage everyone to view this with compassion and empathy as it’s a rather horrifying story, to put it mildly.
Fairway Film Alliance has acquired the true sex trafficking thriller Selling Isobel, which won the 2016 Indie Award at the Raindance Film Festival. The story follows a young woman who is kidnapped, drugged, and raped over the course of three days. What makes this story all the more harrowing is that Frida Farrell, the actress that plays Isobel, went through such an ordeal in real life. The film is meant to help raise awareness of the global sex slave industry, which, per the official press release, “…accounts for the kidnapping of 20.6 million adults and children every year.”
Alongside Farrell, Selling Isobel stars Gabriel Olds (“Boardwalk Empire”, Without Limits), Alyson Stoner (Step Up 3D, Camp Rock 2), Lew Temple (“The Walking Dead”, Unstoppable), Matthew Marsden (Rambo, Resident Evil: Extinction) Stelio Savante (Colors of Heaven, Eisenstein in Guanajuato) and Amber Benson (“Buffy The Vampire Slayer”). It was directed by Rudolf Buitendach.
