Thomas McDonell to Bring Life to Young Barnabas in Dark Shadows
Every good vampire has a good beginning, and that applies to the legendarily malevolent Barnabas Collins in Dark Shadows. Word has just broken regarding who will be playing the younger Collins before Johnny Depp takes over!
According to Deadline Thomas McDonell (pictured right) will play the young Barnabas Collins in the Tim Burton directed feature film adaptation of Dark Shadows. He’ll be serving as the younger version of the character that Johnny Depp plays in the film’s lead role.
He’ll be joining the aforementioned Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Bella Heathcoate, Jackie Earle Haley, Eva Green, and Helena Bonham Carter. We’re still waiting to see if Michael Sheen signs on or not as Roger Collins, the brother of Elizabeth (Pfeiffer).
Seth Grahame-Smith will be writing, and Johnny Depp is also producing with Graham King’s GK Flms. Depp had obtained feature rights to “Dark Shadows” in 2007 from the estate of Dan Curtis, the producer/director who created it. The series aired weekdays on ABC from 1966 to 1971 with 1,225 episodes.
