Fans of the soap opera “Dark Shadows” are no doubt frothing at the mouth for Tim Burton’s big screen adaptation, and with good reason; the casting thus far has been outstanding. Speaking of which … it also continues.
Deadline reports that Burton has set Gulliver McGrath (pictured right; The Loved Ones) to play the role of David Collins (originally portrayed by David Henesy) in the feature film version of Dark Shadows. It was a coveted role for the pint-sized set, and we’ve heard Burton has his sights on Michael Sheen to play David’s father, Roger Collins.
McGrath will join the previously announced Johnny Depp, Jackie Earle Haley, Eva Green, Bella Heathcote, Michelle Pfeiffer, Thomas McDonell, and Helena Bonham Carter.
Seth Grahame-Smith will be writing and Depp will also produce with Graham King’s GK Flms. Depp had obtained feature rights to “Dark Shadows” in 2007 from the estate of Dan Curtis, the producer/director who created it. The series aired weekdays on ABC from 1966 to 1971 with 1,225 episodes.
