Get Zapped to Life by the Flatliners Trailer

The first trailer for Sony’s Flatliners remake has arrived! Based on the 1990 sci-fi horror/thriller, the film follows a group of research students who purposefully die and get brought back to life in order to see if they can experience a taste of the afterlife. Their actions, however, have consequences; and they each begin to see things that shouldn’t, that COULDN’T, be real…

While the movie looks very polished, I’m not getting a sense of anything original being done with the story that we were given nearly 30 years ago. Plus, did the trailer really end with the cliché “woman being dragged down a hallway while screaming” shot? Blech.

We also have a look at the artwork and a few stills.

Flatliners is being directed by Niels Arden Oplev (Sweden’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, TV’s “Mr. Robot”) from a script by Ben Ripley (Source Code). It stars Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton, Kiersey Clemons, and Kiefer Sutherland and comes out September 29th.

Synopsis:
In Flatliners, five medical students, obsessed by the mystery of what lies beyond the confines of life, embark on a daring and dangerous experiment: by stopping their hearts for short periods of time, each triggers a near-death experience – giving them a firsthand account of the afterlife. But as their experiments become increasingly dangerous, they are each haunted by the sins of their pasts, brought on by the paranormal consequences of trespassing to the other side.
