South Africa’s HorrorFest, Celludroid, and X Fest Film Festivals Now Open for Submissions

The 7th annual South African HorrorFest Film Festival, which runs October/November 2011, is now open for submissions. If you have a feature film, a short film, or even a short story that you’d like to submit, read on for the details.
Feature films will be viewed by the selection panel and, if chosen, will be screened at the S.A. HorrorFest, awarded Official Selection status.
Short film entries are divided into South African-made and foreign-made categories with a single winner chosen for each. The best judged South African short will win a production prize from Visual Impact/Magus, valued at R18 000. The best judged foreign entry will be announced and receive an official South African HorrorFest Certificate.
Several other outstanding categories for both foreign and local short and feature films will be announced over the coming months.
No entry fee is charged, and the closing date will be 27 August 2011. (A late entry administrative charge will be levied for entries post-marked after this date.)

In addition, the second Celludroid Sci-Fi/Anime/Fantasy Film Festival will happen in mid-July 2011 (they’re still awaiting word on a visiting director). They, too, are accepting submissions (also free). Info can be found on the official Celludroid website.
Lastly, the fourth X Fest Extreme/Cult/Underground Film Festival will go down in August/September 2011, and yes, they are looking for submissions as well. Visit the official X Fest website for further details.
