Go Behind-the-Scenes of Renfield: The Un-Dead

The folks at Poison Apple Films have lifted the curtain a bit on what went on behind-the-scenes during the shooting of Renfield: The Un-Dead, including a special effects “sizzle” reel and a gag reel that shows what happened when Phil Nichols, dressed in character as Renfield, encountered a landscaper on the set.

Renfield, completed in 2010, is the newest in an aggressive lineup of Poison Apple productions and stars Phil Nichols as Renfield, John W. Stevens as Count Dracula, Keli Wolfe, Tyler Tackett, Roxy Cook, Calvin Lafiton, and Paul Damon as Inspector Cranston.

Don’t forget Renfield: The Un-Dead will be the featured film for the 44th Annual WorldFest’s Midnight Madness program. WorldFest (official site here) takes place April 8-17, 2011 in Houston, Texas, and Renfield will screen on April 15.

Synopsis:
R. N. Renfield, the mad slave of the evil vampire Count Dracula, is now himself an insane vampire stalking a modern day metropolis (Bayou City). Known as “The Bayou City Butcher”, a serial killer, Renfield is relentlessly pursued by Paul Cranston (Paul Damon), a driven British detective who always gets his man. Renfield is also sought by Mina Harker (Roxy Cook), now a vampire, and her half vampire son Quincy (Tyler Tackett). It is a thrilling game of cat and mouse in which Renfield reveals his ancient history with the vampire lord Dracula and battles not only the mortals of Bayou City but the forces of darkness as well.

With great creature effects by Phil Nichols’ Facades Fx Make-up Lab; loads of action, scares, and laughs; and a gripping story of madness and monsters, Renfield: The Un-Dead is a bloody good time!

Episode 50: Sean Keller Was Terrified Watching Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970)
We're incredibly excited to share our 50th episode with special guest the talented and multi-hyphenate Sean Keller. He co-wrote the screenplay to Dario Argento's Giallo and last year's Into the Dark episode "All That We Destroy" but he's also a musician. His latest Halloween album called Revenge of the Killer Sounds of Halloween debuts September 22nd! Not only did we get a sneak peak but we are sharing MB and Terry's favorite song off the album "You Won't See Me." Oh yeah...and Sean ALSO created our theme song. After discussing his career, we turn our attention to Beneath the Planet of the Apes a film that surprises even in 2020 with its anti-war and anti-ignorance themes. Religions, war and anti-thought scientists get taken to task as we unpack the WTFery of it all.
