While his debut creepshow, Shadow, may have been seriously lacking in the story department, it most definitely had visual chops on par with some of Italy’s finest horror filmmakers. Now director Federico Zampaglione steps up to the plate once more with the newly announced Tulpa!

Federico Zampaglione; Tulpa, ShadowWith shooting apparently set to take off very soon, Tulpa will be, according to Zampaglione (pictured right), “a very bloody and tense Italian thriller with some supernatural elements. ‘Tulpa’ is a term which comes from Tibetan Buddhism. It’s a kind of projection of your metaphysical part, which, through meditation, can become real. But sometimes Tulpa goes the wrong way and turns into an evil presence… which then wants to kill its creator. It’s mysterious and creepy stuff.”

Sporting a script by legendary screenwriter Dardano Sacchetti, whose writing career includes stories realized by most of the Italian greats including Fulci, Argento and Bava, you can bet your ass we’ll be finding out more about Tulpa real soon!

While we’re on the topic of Zampaglione’s films, Shadow will be seeing a UK theatrical release at the end of this month under the newly created FrightFest Features banner. The director himself will be at the Empire Cinema in London’s Leicester Square for a Q&A session following the film’s first public screening on Friday, April 29th. Dig on the trailer below!
