The SXSW Winner Most Beautiful Island Has Been Acquired
The haunting psychological thriller Most Beautiful Island‘s North American rights have been acquired by Orion Pictures and Samuel Goldwyn Films. The film won the Grand Jury Award at this year’s SXSW. Release plans will most likely be announced in the coming months.
Directed, written, produced by and starring Ana Asensio, the film spends a day in the life of Luciana, a young immigrant who is trying to live a new life in New York City only for horrific events to unfold before her. The film is a chilling portrait of an undocumented young woman’s struggle for survival as she finds redemption from a tortured past in a dangerous game.
Natasha Romanova, David Little, Nicholas Tucci, Larry Fessenden and Caprice Benedetti co-star in Most Beautiful Island, which was produced by Jenn Wexler, Chadd Harbold, Fessenden and Noah Greenberg.
