We heard from the folks at Glass Eye Pix today with regard to when and where you’ll be able to see the post-apocalyptic vampire epic Stake Land as it begins its nationwide roll-out on April 22nd, and while not a lot of cities are on the preliminary list, we definitely expect a lot more to pop up once people see how totally badass this film is.

Here’s the skinny thus far: Stake Land (review here) opens in New York City at the IFC Center on Friday, APRIL 22, and will be available on V.O.D. starting APRIL 27. It moves to Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago on APRIL 29 and rolls out from there. Take a few moments to call your local theatres and request it – you won’t be sorry.

Now, as for those character prequels that debuted earlier this week, you can re-watch the first two below and expect four more in the days ahead. Per Glass Eye Pix: We are very proud to be rolling out six character portraits featuring the cast members of Stake Land, each by a Glass Eye Pix collaborator. Joining “BELLE” starring Danielle Harris, directed by Graham Reznick, and “MARTIN” starring Connor Paolo, directed by Glenn McQuaid, will be the following:

“SISTER” starring Kelly McGillis, directed by JT Petty
“WILLIE” starring Sean Nelson, directed by Danielle Harris
“JEBEDIAH” starring Michael Cerveris, directed by Larry Fessenden
“MISTER” starring Nick Damici and his father, directed by Larry Fessenden

Says Fessenden: “The idea was to invite some of our favorite directors to contribute to the mythology of Stake Land. Each brought their own sensibility to the world that Nick Damici and Jim Mickle created in the feature. And the actors were very gracious to work on these mini-films on their days off during the shoot, lending their talents to directors they didn’t even know. It was a tribute to their commitment and their affection for Stake Land.”

Along with the prequels, below you’ll find the flick’s trailer, poster, and a viral video, also directed by Fessenden. It’s all good stuff, and let’s not forget about the Stake Land viral site On to New Eden. When you’re done here, be sure to visit the new official Stake Land page on Facebook.

Synopsis
America is a lost nation. When an epidemic of vampirism strikes, humans find themselves on the run from vicious, feral beasts. Cities are tombs and survivors cling together in rural pockets, fearful of nightfall. When his family is slaughtered, young Martin (Gossip Girl’s Connor Paolo) is taken under the wing of a grizzled, wayward hunter (In the Cut’s Nick Damici) whose new prey are the undead.

Simply known as Mister, the vampire stalker takes Martin on a journey through the locked-down towns of America’s heartland, searching for a better place while taking down any bloodsuckers that cross their path. Along the way they recruit fellow travelers, including a nun (Kelly McGillis) who is caught in a crisis of faith when her followers turn into ravenous beasts. This ragtag family unit cautiously moves north, avoiding major thoroughfares that have been seized by The Brethren, a fundamentalist militia headed by Jebedia Loven (Tony award-winning actor Michael Cerveris) that sees the plague as the Lord’s work.
