The 43rd annual Saturn Awards are just around the corner and we wanted to hear from some of the nominees with their thoughts about their titles being up for a win. To start off, we’re hearing from two of the directors of Epic Pictures Group’s Tales of Halloween, Mike Mendez and Axelle Caroyln, who sound off on what this nomination means to them.

The actual award ceremony will take place this Wednesday, June 28th, in Burbank, California. You can see the full list of nominees right here.

Mike Mendez (Tales of Halloween segment “Friday the 31st”):
I’m very excited and honored to have “Tales of Halloween” nominated for Saturn award. This project was born out of love for the genre, so there is no better feeling than being nominated for the most important award in the genre. I’ve said it many times, as a kid who grew up reading comic books and having his action figures taken away in class, this award means more to me than an Oscar. Super thankful to be a part of it.

Axelle Carolyn (Tales of Halloween segment “Grim Grinning Ghost”):
I’m so excited about our Saturn nomination! I’ve had the chance to attend the awards in the past and love that they center around the kind of movies and shows I’m a fan of. It’s a great honor for a little film like ours, which was truly made by horror fans, for horror fans. Our producers Patrick and Shaked at Epic did an amazing job putting together the special edition BluRay, so seeing all those efforts acknowledged is awesome.
