Happy 11th Year of Dread Central

2016 Was a horrid year for us. Everything changed, man. We came within a hair of going out of business, and I say that with no degree of hyperbole. Our chips were down. So down, in fact, that we barely had anything left. We did the only thing that we could… we turned to you… the readers… the faithful… to help us out.

In late November of last year we launched a Patreon page, and the money we have earned through it enabled us (and STILL enables us) to stay afloat. Luckily, Epic Pictures came in and saved the day for us all. They have kept us autonomous and have given us the tools we needed to survive, grow, and prosper. Combined with what you give each and every month, that’s the only reason why we’re still here. For that… we’re grateful beyond words, and we consider each day and each moment we have doing what we love to do a gift; and believe me when I say we cherish it.

11 Years ago, on July 4, 2006, we launched online; and since then we’ve grown with you guys… taken the punches and stayed the course. Over the years we have started own radio show with Brainwaves (TJ, thank you again for giving us a playground on DeepTalkRadio). A line of badass T-shirts with Rotten Cotton (Shawn, it’s an honor to have you printing our stuff), and even our own subscription service with Box of Dread. We can always use some additional support to keep the lights on so if you can, buy a shirt! Subscribe for a box of mystery horror goodies to be delivered to your door!

Dread Central on Facebook, Dread Central on Twitter, and Dread Central on YouTube are still exploding with new “Likes” and “Shares” (remember those things?) so please take a moment to visit them and give us a “thumbs up!” Every little bit of support – no matter how trivial – really helps us to keep going for you.

As for myself and my partners in DC… our unconditional gratitude goes out to Jonathan Barkan (the newest member of our family, who fits in like he was there from Day 1), Andrew Kasch, Buz Wallick, The Foywonder, Mr. Dark, Joe Knetter, Gareth Jones, Matt Fini, David Gelmini, Sean Decker, Tony Timpone, Drew Tinnin, Paul Nicholasi, Heather Buckley, Mike Phalin, Staci Layne Wilson, Anthony Arrigo, Matt Molgaard, Matt Boiselle, John Campopiano, Kevin D. Clark, David Baker, Ted Hentschke, Sean Brickley, Howard Gorman, Roger Barr, Steve Newton, Stephen Romano, Shane Churchman, Josh Millican, Miguel Rodriquez, Beth Accomando, the awesome and talented cats from the Who Goes There? podcast, and everyone else who either has been or has just started contributing to our little asylum. We’re lucky to have each and every one of you.

Also, a huge thank you to those who helped us along the way but have gone on to other things… Johnny Butane, KW Low, John Squires, Brad McHargue, Vanessa Gomez, Scott Hallam, Ari Drew, Trisha Chambers, April Marie, Todd Rigney, Crix Lee, Amanda Dyar, Ryan Turek, Alex DiVincenzo, Ryan Acheson, Sean Clark, Don Kaye, Morgan Elektra, Jason “Jinx” Jenkins, Melissa Bostaph, Thom Carnell, Scott A. Johnson, Brian Smith, Heather Wixson, Emilie Black, Jess King, and all the others whose words and work have graced the site. We’re proud to have shared the same space as you cats. It was and remains our honor.

As always, my personal thanks go to my brother Jon Condit and my everything Debi Moore. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… You guys have been continuously saving my life for years, and I would be ZERO without you. Especially Debi, who puts up with no end of crap from me and always offers me a shoulder to rest my head on. Jon, you’re a close friend and the best partner I could ever have hoped for. Thank you so much for your faith and diligence in the face of seemingly unsurmountable odds. I love you guys more than words could ever fully express.

Once again, we really want to thank YOU, our readers, both old and new. You guys enable us to make the magic happen. We’re proud to have you as our peers. Thanks again for making the DC community one of the best and friendliest places online.

Here’s to another year, kids! Thank you.
