Remembering George A. Romero by Jeff Katz
I got to know George a little bit over the years when I tried to make Dead Reckoning happen at New Line. Cantankerous, justifiably skeptical re: the business and bitingly funny, he was always great to me and very fun to deal with.
I always got a big kick out of having him in the rolodex and his reach and influence are without question, yet always felt like he got among the rawest deals I’ve ever seen. He created a modern genre and has been ripped off countless times. “The Walking Dead” folks, with love, should send his family an annuity for the rest of time.
His legend is priceless. Rest in peace, George.
