Remembering George A. Romero by Darren Lynn Bousman

I remember Night of the Living Dead like it was yesterday… It was the first HORROR MOVIE my parents ever let me watch. It was also the first movie where I could remember it didn’t end happily ever after… It was a gut punch… Just like the gut punch I’m feeling right now writing this…

I had met George while in Toronto… I had only known him from his creations, his monsters, and zombies… But the man himself could not have been sweeter.

I remember standing there, looking up at this gentle giant thinking you fucked up my childhood!

I am so devastated for the loss we as cinema lovers must now mourn, but like the zombies he created, excited to watch my son, and other sons and daughters watch his resurrection in the films he left behind for years to come.
