Remembering George A. Romero by Chris Roe
I am beyond saddened over the death of my friend. To millions around the world, George Romero was a brilliant filmmaker, a writer and director who opened up the genre and made it come alive after years of being stagnant!
This is all very true, but to me, he was FIRST, my friend, and he was also one of my closest and dearest clients. He was a gentle giant of a man who I miss so badly, words can’t express properly how I feel about this loss. I owe George Romero a great deal of gratitude and respect.
He believed in me, and trusted in me, and I have the greatest memories with him all over the world at his home, film festivals, premieres, personal appearances, etc., throughout our 15-year personal and professional relationship.
George never really received the respect he should have from his peers in Hollywood. I hope that his talent and influence shines bright, and lives long for generations to come. Let the name GEORGE A. ROMERO, never be forgotten!
It was a privilege to be your manager, and it was the honor of a lifetime to be your friend. Love you George!
