A Box of First Edition Freddy vs Jason vs Ash Comics Has Been Found and Will Go On Sale Soon
In late 2007, WildStory and Dynamite Entertainment released a limited series six-issue comic for Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash, which was based on the original Freddy vs. Jason film treatment by Jeff Katz. Written by James Kuhoric and illustrated by Jason Craig, the series was a sequel to both Freddy vs. Jason and the events of the Evil Dead trilogy. Then, in 2009, a sequel six-issue series by the name of Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash: The Nightmare Warriors was written, which featured characters seen in both the Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street franchises.
Long out of print, copies of these comics go on eBay for absurdly high prices. However, if you’ve been in the market for a set of these issues, some good news is coming your way!
After giving us his touching tribute to George A. Romero, Katz revealed to Dread Central that he recently found a, “…small cache of first printings of the comics (both the original and sequel series) in an old longbox.” But rather than hold onto them, Katz decided to take another route. “Instead of letting them sit in storage I’d rather fans get to enjoy them. Full sets, while very limited, should be well under what trades are going for online so they can get out there in the world among fans.”
He ended by simply saying, “Please pass on my thanks and love to horror fans for keeping this concept alive after all these years. It’s astonishing to still see it resonate. Warms my cold heart.”
The comics will go on sale in the first week of August over on Dark Delicacies, per Katz’s information.
