You can always count on The CW to bring the goods to San Diego Comic-Con; and for “The Originals, which was recently revealed to be embarking on its final season, they didn’t disappoint.

A fun sizzle reel for the show was unveiled at SDCC today, and while it’s mostly a recap of the road traveled thus far by the Mikaelson family, at the very end we jump ahead to where the upcoming season will begin with a look at our “new” Hope, portrayed by Danielle Rose Russell.

Per THR, during “The Originals” panel we learned a bit more about how Caroline (Candice King) might figure into the upcoming season. Exec producer Julie Plec confirmed that there is potential for her to appear more than once. “Caroline is the headmistress of Klaus’ daughter’s school, so they are going to have an interaction at some point,” she said. Because the character has known Klaus the longest, “she has a perspective for him and the way that he’s living his life right now.”

Klaus himself, Joseph Morgan, addressed the unresolved romantic tension between their characters. “I suspected there might be something more to this story,” he said. “There’s always been… a feeling of something unresolved there.”

Filming on the series will wrap around Christmas, and Season 5 will kick off midseason.
