Fresh off of its successful run at Tribeca, the Israeli slasher flick Kalevet (aka Rabies) has found itself some distribution at Cannes! Read on for the details, and when you’re done, be sure to go and get a rabies shot. Yeah it hurts, but you don’t want this kind of thing to spread!
According to Variety, Image Entertainment has snapped up U.S. rights to Israeli horror film Rabies from XYZ Films, and Mongrel Media has nabbed Canadian rights to the pic, which is the directorial debut of Navot Papushado and Aharon Keshales, who also penned the script.
The actors who were chosen to play murderers and murderees are all A-list Israeli actors such as Ofer Shechter, Ania Buckshtein, and Lior Ashkenazi. Check out the official Kalevet website here.
Synopsis:
A psychotic serial killer on the loose in the woods crosses paths with a group of unsuspecting teenagers. Soon people are dying one by oneā¦ but the bad guy isn’t who you think. Turning genre conventions on their head with a smart script and plenty of unexpected scares, Rabies is a surprising debut worthy of its mantle as Israel’s first-ever slasher horror film.
