Curtis James Jackson III, better known to his fans across the globe as rapper 50 Cent, has joined the cast of Stephen Sommers’ Odd Thomas adaptation in the role of blind deejay Shamus Cocobolo.
Per Variety Cocobolo helps the titular hero, played by Anton Yelchin, uncover a Satanic plot. Yelchin’s Odd is a short-order cook who can commune with the dead, a secret only his girlfriend (Addison Timlin) and the local police chief (Willem Dafoe) know. The young man can also spot malevolent forces called bodachs, who feed on pain and portend imminent death. When Odd sees them in spades surrounding a stranger, he finds himself in a race against time to avert a catastrophe.
Patton Oswalt, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Nico Tortorella co-star. Fusion Films partners John Baldecchi and Howard Kaplan are producing along with Sommers, who adapted the screenplay. Production is starting imminently in Santa Fe, New Mexico, so look for more soon.
In the meantime check out the official Odd Thomas website based on the books by Dean Koontz.
