American Horror Story: Cult – Emma Roberts IN; Kathy Bates OUT
The barrage of teasers has begun for the upcoming seventh season of “American Horror Story,” which is subtitled “Cult,” and now we have a little bit of casting news to share as well!
First the bad news… per THR, fan-favorite Kathy Bates, who co-starred in Seasons 3, 4, 5, and 6 of the show, will not be returning this year. Unfortunately, she had a scheduling conflict due to her role in the new series “Disjointed,” Chuck Lorre’s “pot comedy” that releases on Netflix on August 25th.
But the good news is that Emma Roberts, whom we haven’t seen since Season 4’s “Freak Show” (she also appeared in Season 3, “Coven”), is back. She shared the news on Instagram:
The new season kicks off on September 5th. In addition to the newly announced Roberts, the returning stars include Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Frances Conroy, Mare Winningham, Cheyenne Jackson, and Adina Porter. The newcomers announced so far are Lena Dunham, Alison Pill, Billie Lourd, Billy Eichner, Colton Haynes, and Leslie Grossman.
“American Horror Story” is an anthology horror drama series created and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. The Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning franchise is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television.
