Charles Band Wants You to Visit ShangriLa and Get a Blade Figurine in the Process; Portion of Proceeds Going to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital
Here at Dread Central we always try to keep you abreast (or sometimes a thigh) regarding what your favorite filmmakers are doing, and we just got word that Full Moon’s Charles Band has something cooking that is for your own well-being! Normally this isn’t something that we’d cover, and we won’t be covering it often for sure, but when charity is involved, we like to step up!
From the Press Release:
Full Moon Features and Empire Pictures legend Charles Band is one of the most recognized purveyors of crazy cult filmmaking in history, producing and distributing escapist fantasy movies for over 40 years, while navigating the unpredictable and ever-changing landscape of cinema production and distribution.
But throughout it all, Band has been dedicated to doing what he loves: entertaining people of all ages all over the world, bringing them together and creating a global community of fans and friends, while making history along the way. Now Band has collaborated with one of Full Moon’s most famous muses, the inimitable actress Robin Sydney (Evil Bong, The Gingerdead Man, Killjoy’s Psycho Circus), combining her creativity and his ability to produce, to form ShangriLa Global, a new company that celebrates these same philosophies Band has long traded in but with a focus on health, vitality, family, and well-being.
ShangriLa Global – which alludes to the internationally recognized symbol of peace, youthfulness, vitality, and harmony first described in James Hilton’s 1933 novel Lost Horizon – is focused on the creation and online distribution of an array of innovative products, toys, accessories, and gifts for men, women, and children. From signature, stadium-approved clear purses to award-winning fidget toys and award-winning kids jewelry and meaningful jewelry for adults designed with health, happiness, and wellness in mind, ShangriLa Global curates only the finest, most unique items from around the world and brings them direct to the customer.
For those who don’t know, Robin Sydney (pictured) is also an international award-winning entrepreneur and inventor who, along with her mom, Marian Heymsfield, has created trendsetting, innovative, and meaningful products for both kids and adults for 14 years via their company Zorbitz. Zorbitz is worn by a myriad of A-list celebrities including Shailene Woodley, Olivia Wilde, Jared Leto, Sharon Stone, and many others.
Also on board for the ShangriLa Global team is Band’s daughter, Taryn Band Rodriguez, who has been professionally active in the fashion industry for almost two decades, including the success of her own company, Vanitas of California, which was showcased in major stores nationwide including Bloomingdales, Anthropologie, and Nordstrom and was worn by A-list celebrities including Cameron Diaz, Nicole Richie, and Halle Berry.
Rounding out the team is Stephanie Glicken, a branding and digital marketing specialist with a proven history of elevating brands by crafting and reinforcing engaging brand narratives through digital, social, and print PR campaigns. She has long believed that all brands deserve a good story and an engaged audience. Her marketing campaigns have helped establish brands and are known to convert customers into loyal brand advocates. Stephanie has over 10 years experience in marketing across various sectors, including beauty, entertainment, fashion, hospitality, lifestyle, and non-profit.
The ShangriLa Global webstore will open its doors on August 20, coinciding with a gala pop-up store launch that day in Los Angeles.
And as a bonus for Full Moon fans ONLY, any purchases made via the ShangriLa Global online store on the 8/20 launch date will receive a FREE Blade figurine! Proof of purchase required. Details to follow.
ShangriLa Global is dedicated to providing the planet with purposeful products that resonate with the spirit of fun and eternal youth, curated by people who have devoted their lives to making people happy. Additionally, a portion of each product sold will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It is the little things that make a big difference in the world, after all.
