Doom Slayer Blasts into Quake Champions

The arena-based shooter Quake Champions just got a whole lot more badass, as Doom Slayer, the protagonist from last year’s Doom reboot (review), has joined the cast as a playable character. In addition to his huge guns, he’ll have the ability to perform double jumps, making him a formidable opponent on the battlefield.

This makes him the second character from a separate Bethesda franchise to be confirmed to appear in the game after Wolfenstein’s BJ Blazkowicz.

It probably won’t come as much of a surprise that Quake Champions is being developed by Doom veterans id Software. The game will enter Early Access on August 22, so we don’t have long before we get to experience Bethesda’s answer to Overwatch and Destiny (albeit with a ton more gore). Due to hardware limitations, no console version is planned.

Synopsis:
Quake. Is. Back.

The fast, skill-based arena-style competition that turned the original Quake games into multiplayer legends is making a triumphant return with Quake Champions. Running at an impressive 120hz with unlocked framerates, id Software’s new multiplayer shooter is getting ready to take PC gaming by storm once more.

Quake Champions features a roster of unique characters, each with their own distinctive abilities, allowing you to fight the way you want.
