Writers Announced for Fox’s A People’s History of the Vampire Uprising Adaptation
As we learned earlier this year, another book-to-film adaptation is heading our way from 20th Century Fox and Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps; and up now is your first word on who will be writing the script for A People’s History of the Vampire Uprising.
Per Deadline, JD Payne and Patrick McKay have been set by Fox and 21 Laps to pen A People’s History of the Vampire Uprising, based on the Raymond Villareal novel. Payne and McKay are writing the next Star Trek film for Paramount and producer JJ Abrams and also Disney’s Jungle Cruise with Dwayne Johnson.
The novel, which is being published next summer by Little Brown’s Mulholland Books as the first installment of a four-book series, is an “oral history” of the appearance, assimilation, and ultimately epic and violent confrontation of vampires with the human race. It chronicles the rise of the vampires, who call themselves “The Gloaming,” from multiple points of view: the CDC investigator who discovers a mysterious virus; the FBI agent who forms the first Gloaming Crimes Unit; a civil rights attorney’s analysis of the Gloaming Equal Rights Act; an obsessive Vatican librarian; and even TMZ.
Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen are producing for 21 Laps. Mike Ireland is overseeing for the studio.
We should have more soon.
