Bethesda has gone all out when it comes to embracing virtual reality. That’s because at Gamescom they announced release dates for the VR versions of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout 4, and Doom. That’s a whole lot of 3D projection!

Skyrim VR will be released on PlayStation VR on November 17 and will arrive on the HTC Vive sometime next year. It will be followed by Doom VFR on PlayStation VR and Vive on December 1, and finally, Fallout 4 VR will hit the Vive on December 12.

However you feel about the medium, I must admit that I don’t think releasing VR ports of pre-existing games is the right way to go, so I’ll be approaching these new releases with a degree of trepidation. What I say is irrelevant, however, because these are going to sell.

Fallout 4 VR:
With the power of VR, you’ll be able to get up-close-and-personal with the dangers of a post-apocalyptic world as you fight for survival. Featuring new combat, crafting and building systems fully reimagined for VR – including VR-enhanced V.A.T.S. – Fallout 4 VR isn’t just a jaunt through the Wasteland, it’s the entire game. The whole world is fully explorable. That includes hundreds of locations, characters and quests. This is your opportunity to step into the Wasteland and experience Fallout 4 in a whole new way. Pre-order here.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim:
Developed by Bethesda Game Studios, Skyrim VR takes the full game (plus all of the official add-ons: Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn) and reimagines the complete epic fantasy with an unparalleled sense of scale, depth, and immersion.

Skyrim VR puts you in the role of the Dragonborn – the prophesied hero who can harness the power of dragons. From battling ancient dragons to exploring rugged mountains and more, Skyrim VR brings to life a complete open world for you to explore any way you choose. Pre-order here.

DOOM VFR:
If you flinched the first time you saw a meaty Mancubus charging at you in last year’s critically acclaimed DOOM, wait till you get up close and even more personal with rampaging demons in DOOM VFR. Revealed at Bethesda’s E3 2017 Showcase, DOOM VFR is a new virtual reality game from legendary developer id Software, coming to PlayStation VR and VIVE platforms.
