The Vampire Diaries’ Penelope Mitchell Joins Hellboy Reboot
Neil Marshall’s Hellboy reboot has had a rough couple of days, with one actor leaving the film amid a bit of controversy following his hiring; but the production is soldiering on with some new casting news…
Per Deadline, Penelope Mitchell (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Hemlock Grove,” The Curse of Downers Grove) has signed on as Ganeida, an elder witch who has decided that Nimue the Blood Queen’s wrath has gone on for too long and must be stopped. She joins the previously announced David Harbour as Hellboy, Ian McShane as Professor Broom, and Milla Jovovich as Nimue.
Directed by Neil Marshall, Hellboy is based on a script by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden, and Mike Mignola, who is the creator of the Hellboy universe. The latest draft was done by Aron Coleite (“Heroes,” “Star Trek: Discovery”). Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin are producing along with Mike Richardson of Dark Horse Entertainment. Millennium Films and Lionsgate are making the film.
