Remember the giant clusterf*ck that was The Crow reboot over at Relativity? Caught up in bankruptcy and legal issues, a film that shouldn’t have been a problem to make was caught in a nightmare of bureaucracy and seemed to be as dead as Shelly Webster (sorry Eric). However, it seems this fowl movie (Puns? I got ’em!) is ready to take its leap from nest to flight as Sony Pictures has taken the reins, per Deadline.

The site reports that Samuel Hadida’s Davis Films, Highland Film Group and Electric Shadow had previously acquired rights to finance, produce and distribute the film, and Kevin Misher will produce via his Misher Films with Sony distributing worldwide, and Highland Film Group selling international rights.

Titled The Crow Reborn, it will be a more faithful adaptation of James O’Barr’s own comic series. An adaptation in 1994 was directed by Alex Proyas and starred Brandon Lee in the title role. It went on to become a cult classic that has endured for over two decades, making the reboot a closely watched property by many longtime fans.
