IT Is Shattering Fandango’s Records Left and Right

This weekend. After years of hoping and months of waiting, IT will finally emerge from the sewers and hit our theater screens. Already one of the most anticipated films of the year for horror fans, it seems that the Stephen King adaptation from director Andres Muschietti is generating huge interest from non-horror fans, too! In fact, the film is shattering Fandango’s records!

Check it out: IT (review) is now Fandango’s #1 horror pre-seller of all time, eclipsing 2011’s Paranormal Activity 3 and the record as Fandango’s top pre-seller among September releases, beating 2016’s Sully.

Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis explains, “The advance ticket sales have been sensational. ’It’ has been building tremendous momentum, fueled by nostalgia for the iconic Stephen King story, some spine-chilling trailers, and terrific advance buzz. With the promise of a film that’s scary, funny, and driven by one of horror’s most memorable villains in Pennywise the Clown, ‘It’ is destined to kick off the fall movie season in a major way and will easily lead this weekend’s box office.

The interest in this new film is so great that the 1990 miniseries with Tim Curry as Pennywise has entered the Top 20 rentals of FandangoNOW, the website’s digital rental streaming service!

· 91% are fans of Stephen King.
· 89% were intrigued by the trailer.

Stephen King’s IT has been rated R for “violence/horror, bloody images, and for language.IT comes out September 8th.

Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Nicholas Hamilton, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jeremy Ray Taylor, and Sophia Lillis star with Bill Skarsgard, who portrays Pennywise. In addition, creature performer Javier Botet has signed on as The Leper, and Owen Teague plays Patrick Hocksetter, part of a group of bullies who torment The Losers’ Club.

Andrés Muschietti directs. The behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Chung-Hoon Chung (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), production designer Claude Paré (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), editor Jason Ballantine (The Great Gatsby), and costume designer Janie Bryant (“Mad Men”).

Synopsis:
When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, a group of young kids are faced with their biggest fears when they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.
