Wow, the dead aren’t even at a full tilt rampage yet, and already bodies are dropping for director Marc Forster’s take on Max Brooks’ novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War. Two previously announced casting choices have bailed without even seeing combat. Read on for details.
According to New York Magazine’s Vulture neither Matthew Fox nor Ed Harris will be starring in Paramount’s zombie-pocalypse thriller, World War Z. Fox has a scheduling conflict stemming from his prior commitment to star in I, Alex Cross with Tyler Perry at Summit Entertainment; less clear is why the Harris deal didn’t pull through. The actors had smaller roles in the Brad Pitt flick, but with the movie already in production in Malta, the filmmakers are scrambling to recast, having actors read in both London and Los Angeles.
The novel is set 10 years after a global zombie epidemic and is an oral history told from many perspectives around the world. Brad Pitt is playing a U.N. worker gathering stories of the great zombie war, and his Plan B shingle is producing. Mireille Enos (“Big Love”, “The Killing”) will play his wife, a mother of two girls, and Anthony Mackie co-stars. J. Michael Straczynski and Matt Carnahan wrote the script.
Now that filming is just about under way, look for more soon!
