From the Press Release
Caesars Atlantic City and the famed Tribeca Film Festival are bringing cinema to the sand with the return of the Tribeca Cinema Series at Caesars Atlantic City from Thursday, July 7th through Sunday, July 10th. Guests at the New Jersey Shore destination will get a sneak-peek at some of the year’s most anticipated films that have been presented at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. All of the screenings are free to the public.

The Tribeca Cinema Series will redefine what it means to go to the movies with this unconventional and exciting event on the shore. With a screen that spans 33 feet long and 20 feet tall, Caesars is setting the bar high for Atlantic City events this summer. Guests can enjoy acclaimed independent films from Tribeca as the sun sets on the serene beaches of Atlantic City for an evening of cinema bliss.

The films slated for the event include “Grave Encounters” (Canada), directed and written by The Vicious Brothers; “Catching Hell” (USA), directed and written by Academy Award® winner Alex Gibney; “Last Night” (USA), directed and written by Massy Tadjedin and starring Keira Knightley, Sam Worthington and Eva Mendes; and “Brother’s Justice” (USA), directed and written by Dax Shepard and co-directed by David Palmer. All screenings will begin at sundown and will be held on the Caesars property beach at Arkansas Ave.

“We are excited to welcome back the Tribeca Cinema Series at Caesars Atlantic City and to provide visitors and residents with another opportunity to enjoy critically acclaimed films in a beautiful beach setting,” said Jennifer Weissman, Regional Vice President of Marketing for Caesars Entertainment. “Caesars is a leader in providing unique entertainment options and the partnership with the Tribeca Film Festival is yet another reason why Atlantic City is one of the most premier entertainment destinations on the East Coast.”

On Thursday and Friday evenings, Caesars will be offering a $39 prix fixe menu at its restaurants Mia, Nero’s Grill and newly-opened Atlantic Grill, where Soho meets the Shore.

Inside Atlantic Grill, located on the dining level at Caesars, guests are greeted by sweeping views of the Atlantic City beach and Boardwalk. For those looking for a lounge-like atmosphere, Atlantic Grill features the Forum Lounge and lends itself to relaxed dining and cocktails or, on some nights, even dancing and live entertainment.

Exclusive to Atlantic City, Atlantic Grill at Caesars will feature a 10-seated high-action sushi bar experience which is a centric bridge to the main dining room. The 19-seat sunken bar-area offers a cozy and intimate option for guests, while the surrounding open area is an inviting space ideal for socializing and enjoying signature cocktails.

Sammy Hagar’s Beach Bar is another nearby treat where film-goers can grab a cocktail and enjoy a night on the ocean. Those looking for weekend-long entertainment can take advantage of Caesars luxurious accommodations, and spend a few days enjoying the full range of entertainment and nightlife options the resort has to offer, from the cutting edge Dusk nightclub to the total serenity offered by Qua Baths & Spa. Also new to visitors this year is the Boardwalk Beer Garden at Dusk which features a stellar selection of microwbrews and regional favorites, with seating on the historic Atlantic City Boardwalk.

“The Tribeca Cinema Series at Caesars is a great way to showcase a wide range of independent films to a new audience in an enchanting venue,” said Nancy Schafer of the Tribeca Film Festival. “We are eager to continue working with Caesars Atlantic City to bring quality independent films to this beachside resort.”
The following outlines the Tribeca Cinema Series slate:

DATE: Thursday, July 7 (Opening) @ Caesars Beach

FEATURE: “Grave Encounters” (review here) directed by The Vicious Brothers; starring Ben Wilkinson, Sean Rogerson, Ashleigh Gryzko and Juan Riedinger

DETAILS: Lance Preston and the crew of “Grave Encounters,” a ghost-hunting reality television show, are shooting an episode inside the abandoned Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital, where unexplained phenomena has been reported for years. All in the name of good television, they voluntarily lock themselves inside the building for the night and begin a paranormal investigation, capturing everything on camera. They quickly realize that the building is more than just haunted – it is alive – and it has no intention of ever letting them leave. They find themselves lost in a labyrinth maze of endless hallways and corridors, terrorized by the ghosts of the former patients. They soon begin to question their own sanity, slipping deeper and deeper into the depths of madness, ultimately discovering the truth behind the hospital’s dark past…and taping what turns out to be their final episode.

DATE: Friday, July 8 @ Caesars Beach

FEATURE: “Catching Hell” directed by Alex Gibney

DETAILS: CATCHING HELL documents the pop fly that will live in infamy. When Chicagoan Steve Bartman fatefully deflected a foul ball in Game 6 of the 2003 National League Championship, the city’s long-suffering Cubs fans found someone new to blame for their cursed century without a World Series title. Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney explores the psychology of diehard sports fans, the frightening phenomenon of scapegoating, and the hysteria that turned mild-mannered Bartman into the most hated fan. Produced by ESPN Films, CATCHING HELL recently had its World Premiere at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival, is available on Tribeca Film On Demand this summer and will premiere on ESPN September 27th.

DATE: Saturday, July 9 @ Caesars Beach

FEATURE: “Last Night” directed by Massy Tadjedin; starring Keira Knightley, Sam Worthington, Eva
Mendes, Griffin Dunne and Guillaume Canet

DETAILS: Set in New York City, LAST NIGHT is the story of a married couple, who, while, apart for one night, are confronted by temptation that may decide the fate of their marriage. Joanna (Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley) and Michael Reed (Sam Worthington) are seven years into a successful and happy relationship. They are moving along in their lives together until Joanna meets Laura (Eva Mendes), the stunningly beautiful work colleague whom Michael never mentioned. While Michael is away with Laura on a business trip, Joanna runs into an old but never quite forgotten love, Alex (Guillaume Canet), and agrees to have drinks with him. As the night progresses and temptation increases for the couple, each must confront who they are inside and outside of their relationship. “Last Night” is ultimately a film about choices – the choice you make to be with someone, to give yourself to them physically, and emotionally, and how to survive after you’ve made your choice.

DATE: Sunday, July 10 @ Caesars Beach

FEATURE: “Brothers Justice” directed Dax Shepard and David Palmer; starring Dax Shepard, Tom Arnold, Bradley Cooper, David Koechner, Michael Rosenbaum and Nate Tuck

DETAILS: In an attempt to shake up his career, actor Dax Shepard makes the decision to abandon comedy in pursuit of his true dream: to become an internationally-renown martial arts star. Without any formal martial arts training, or any real funding for his ‘blockbuster’ action movie script, Dax enlists the help of his buddies including producer Nate Tuck and actor Tom Arnold. Together, they work towards Dax’s true passion while facing rejection at every turn. With maniacal conviction, Dax journeys on a bizarre path that becomes increasingly nonsensical and destructive, all at the expense and exploitation of his personal and professional relationships. BROTHER’S JUSTICE marks Dax Shepard’s directorial debut, co-directed by David Palmer. The Hollywood satire also features performances by Bradley Cooper and David Koechner (ANCHORMAN), among others.
