The sudden influx of slasher-themed video games has resulted in some wonderfully strange titles being released as of late, one of which is Slayaway Camp (review), where you play as an axe-wielding psycho known as Skullface.

Originally released last year on PC, and looking rather like a cross between Minecraft and Friday the 13th, news recently broke that Slayaway Camp will now be heading to PS4 and Xbox One. The console version will be called Slayaway Camp: Butcher’s Cut, with publisher Blue Wizard Digital promising that it will be the bloodiest version of the game released so far. Featuring over 300 levels in addition to over 90 gorepacks, it sure looks like console owners are in for a very bloody time.

We know that the console version will be releasing later this year, although an exact release date has not yet been specified. However, a trailer released on the PlayStation YouTube channel gives those who never experienced Slayaway Camp on PC a feel of its unique art-style and its grainy VHS picture effects.

Slayaway Camp: Butcher’s Cut – Announcement Trailer | PS4
A killer puzzle game where you control Skullface, a psychotic slasher hellbent on revenge. Slide this adorably demented murderer around hundreds of isometric puzzle levels to squash, flay, and decapitate hapless victims in this darkly comic homage to ’80s horror movies.
