Comedian Jenny Slate Joins Tom Hardy for R-Rated Venom Movie
It isn’t often that big-budget superhero movies cross-pollinate with our beloved horror genre. And that is why we should all be excited about Marvel’s upcoming Venom.
Not only does the film star Tom Hardy (which should be enough right there) but we’ve also heard the news that the film will be rated R and inspired by the works of John Carpenter and David Cronenberg!
While today’s news isn’t as epic as those bits and pieces, it’s still worth noting. Variety reports comedian Jenny Slate has joined the cast of Venom as “a scientist”.
Many speculate Slate will be Hardy/Brock’s sidekick/comic relief. Not a hard jump to make. While Slate hasn’t been in any horror flicks (to my knowledge) she is a mainstay in modern-comedy movies & TV.
We say, welcome to the Venom cast, Jenny. But be warned. If Hardy attempts another Bane-esque accent for this movie, your services as comic relief may not be needed. Let’s all just hope Hardy chooses to stick with his (now) classic Fury Road grunts n’ growls.
Venom is written by Scott Rosenberg & Jeff Pinkner and Kelly Marcel and directed by Ruben Fleischer. The film currently stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed and, now, Jenny Slate.
Venom hits theaters Oct. 5, 2018.
