Exclusive: Tokyo Ghoul Clip Ups the Level of Paranoia
After waiting for what seemed like quite a while, Funimation’s Tokyo Ghoul will be hitting select US theaters this month with English subs. To give you a taste of the film and the mood it’s going for, we’ve got an exclusive clip that shows protagonist Kaneki sitting with his friend in a cafe where they talk about the recent ghoul attacks.
In the clip, “Shy college student Kaneki meets the girl of his dreams, but in a town full of man-eating ghouls, only nightmares await.”
The suggestion comes up that since the ghouls look just like humans that any of the patrons sitting around them could very well be one of these vicious anomalies. Check it out for yourself below and get swept up in the paranoia!
Tokyo Ghoul is directed by Kentarô Hagiwara and stars Masataka Kubota, Fumika Shimizu, Yu Aoi, Nobuyuki Suzuki, Yo Oizumi, Shunya Shiraishi, Hiyori Sakurada, Shoko Aida, Shuntaro Yanagi, and Bandon Minosuke II.
The film will be playing in limited theaters October 16th through the 22nd. To see if it’s screening in your area, click here.
Synopsis:
Buried in books and a quiet life, Ken Kaneki is all but dead to the world in an age where flesh-eating ghouls live among us. But when his only chance for survival is an organ donation that turns him into a ghoul-human hybrid, he finds sanctuary at Anteiku—a café run by the people he once considered monsters. Targeted by anti-ghoul forces, this safe house is up against a hunger more sickening than their own. When their most innocent members are threatened by humanity’s taste for vengeance, Kaneki will risk life and limb to protect the very world that changed his own.
