Director Tyler MacIntyre’s upcoming horror-comedy Tragedy Girls is a movie I’m on the fence about. The film could tip one of two ways; a new high school horror/slasher classic, or an annoyingly self-aware and “clever” hour and a half spent with 30-year-olds playing teenagers.

But I’m hopeful.

After all, our own Jonathan Barkan called the film, “Quirky and endearing… undoubtedly charming and entertaining, complete with a hefty dose of bloodshed Heathers-esque nihilism.” And that sounds like good times to me.

Speaking of Tradgey Girls today we have the film’s new poster and a clip via MTV.  You can check out the poster below, but to see the clip you’ll need to head over HERE.

Directed by Tyler MacIntyre, who co-wrote the script with Chris Lee Hill (based on an original screenplay by Justin Olson), Tragedy Girls stars Alexandra Shipp (X-Men: Apocalypse), Brianna Hildebrand (Deadpool), Josh Hutcherson, Craig Robinson, Kevin Durand, Jack Quaid, Timothy V. Murphy, Nicky Whelan, Austin Abrams, Kerry Rhodes, and Mary Carmen Lopez.

Synopsis:
Best friends Sadie and McKayla are on a mission to boost their social media fandom as amateur crime reporters hot on the trail of a deranged local serial killer. After they manage to capture the killer and secretly hold him hostage, they realize the best way to up get scoops on future victims would be to, you know, murder people themselves. As the @TragedyGirls become an overnight sensation and panic grips their small town, can their friendship survive the strain of national stardom? Will they get caught? Will their accounts get verified?
