Rest in Peace: Brent Briscoe
The industry just lost another of its finest character actors as THR is reporting that Brent Briscoe (Sling Blade, The Messengers, A Simple Plan, Showtime’s “Twin Peaks)” has passed on at the all-too-young age of 56. Briscoe died Wednesday (October 18th) in Los Angeles, a family spokesperson announced on Facebook. No cause of death was immediately available.
Before he was Det. Dave Macklay in this year’s “Twin Peaks” revival, Briscoe played another cop, Detective Domgaard, in David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive (2001).
Briscoe’s film résumé also included Milos Forman’s Man on the Moon (1999), Frank Darabont’s The Green Mile (1999), Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 (2004), Paul Haggis’ In the Valley of Elah (2007), Jon Turteltaub’s National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007), and Beneath (2013).
On television Briscoe also showed up in “Deadwood,” “24,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Justified,” “NCIS,” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”
We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to extend our deepest of condolences to Briscoe’s family members, friends, and constituents. Rest easy, sir; and thank you for all of the memories.
