The Dog Who Saved Halloween and Reunited the Cast of Blossom

The Dog Who Saved Halloween is the third installment in the “Dog Who Saved” DVD franchise. The first was 2009’s The Dog Who Saved Christmas. That was followed last year with The Dog Who Saved Christmas Vacation. I assume next year’s sequel will be The Dog Who Saved Halloween Vacation.
I’m most looking forward to The Dog Who Saved International Talk Like a Pirate Day, which they should get around to by 2023.
Anchor Bay is getting the jump on the holiday in a big way by releasing The Dog Who Saved Halloween on DVD September 13th. Before any of you gorehounds outright dismiss this family friendly cute animal holiday flick, keep in mind three things:
1) Lance Henriksen appears in the film and he’s not the sort to show up in any old cheap piece of crap.
2) It also co-stars Revenge of the Nerds’ very own Curtis “Booger” Armstrong. Therefore, greatness is already assured.
3) This will go down in pop culture history as the movie that reunited “Blossom” co-stars Mayim Bialik and Joey Laurence for the first time since that show’s cancellation. Well, only their voices are being reunited. They don’t actually appear in the film; they’re providing voices for a tough Bernese Mountain Dog named “Medusa” and the franchise’s Labrador Retriever star, “Zeus”. Ten bucks says they have Zeus say “Whoa!” at least once.
Everyone’s favorite four-legged friend Zeus (voiced by Joey Lawrence) and the Bannisters are back in The Dog Who Saved Halloween, an all-new adventure jam-packed with family-friendly thrills and chills! When George, Belinda and their kids, Kara and Ben Bannister, move into a new house – just in time for Halloween! – everything seems to be fine … until they notice eerie glowing lights and strange sounds coming from their neighbor’s house where creepy Mr. Cole (Lance Henriksen) lives with his protective pooch Medusa (voiced by Mayim Bialik). When a black cat suddenly goes missing, George Bannister (Gary Valentine) insists on investigating the matter himself – and ultimately enlists an odd yet familiar pair (Dean Cain, Joey Diaz) to help. But after the trio and Belinda Bannister (Elisa Donovan) get trapped inside the spooky house, it’s once again up to Zeus to save the day!
You can watch a preview for The Dog Who Saved Halloween over at Starz Media’s website, and please keep in mind while doing so that IMDB credits five different writers for this film.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m late for a pitch meeting with Kirk Cameron, where I intend to sell him on my idea for The Dog Who Saved Us from Halloween. It’s about an adorable stray sheepdog named J.C. taken in by a fundamentalist Christian family that helps them and the neighborhood children save the truth from a teenage gang of bumbling, secular progressive, homosexual headbangers plotting to burn down the family’s “Hell House” on Halloween night.
