Waxwork Records to Release William Friedkin’s Cruising and IT Miniseries OSTs on Vinyl!
In the brand new episode of Blumhouse’s Shock Waves podcast, Waxwork Records’ Kevin Bergeron and composer Douglas Pipes stopped by the horror show to discuss some future plans. While chatting, two titles were let loose that are going to be of interest to cinema fans!
The first is Jack Nitzsche’s score for Cruising, the 1980 crime film written and directed by William Friedkin (The Exorcist). Starring Al Pacino, Paul Sorvino, and Karen Allen, the film tackled the taboo subject of a serial killer who specifically targeted gay men, especially those involved in the leather and bondage scene. While it wasn’t particularly well-received upon release, the film has a certain amount of notoriety and cult appreciation.
The big news comes in the form of the second title announced on the podcast, which is Richard Bellis’ soundtrack to the IT miniseries from 1990! I couldn’t find any evidence of a vinyl release, so this should mark a first for the soundtrack. When the title came up, Shock Waves asked if the title had been announced, to which they got the humorous reply, “I guess I just did!”
