Is it a Halloween movie? Is it a Christmas movie? Who cares?! The Nightmare Before Christmas is a charming and wonderful film that has managed to transcend time and become a classic film that kids and adults can enjoy regardless of which holiday you watch it around!

The reason we’re bringing it up is because there was recently a concert in Vienna honoring the works of Danny Elfman, who was presented with the Max Steiner Film Music Achievement Award, the composer of the majority of Tim Burton’s films. At the concert, Elfman was on hand to sing “What’s This” from The Nightmare Before Christmas and we’ve got an exclusive video of that very performance! As you can see, it’s not only a fantastic performance but Hollywood in Vienna is going all out to make each ceremony a truly special event, something memorable for the audience as well as the guests.

A series that focuses on celebrating the music of film, Hollywood in Vienna takes place in the prestigious Wiener Konzerthaus (Vienna Concert Hall) in Vienna, capital of Austria. Previous recipients of the Max Steiner Award include James Horner, Lalo Schifrin, James Horner, and Alan Silvestri.

Hollywood in Vienna Founder and Artistic Director Sandra Tomek congratulated her friend and collaborator Danny Elfman on his Max Steiner Film Music Achievement Award, given by the City of Vienna to honor a outstanding Film Composers each year.

It’s a big honor to perform my work in Vienna and especially to receive this award here in the City of Music and the birthplace of two of my role models, Max Steiner and Erich Wolfgang Korngold, the forefathers of the Hollywood Sound as we know it today,” says Elfman.
