New Reanimator Movie Gets an Official Title
We told you about Re-Animator: Evolution a while back. Mind you, this film has NOTHING to do with Stuart Gordon and Brian Yuzna’s franchise starring Jeffrey Combs. Instead, it’s a different beast altogether, NOW with a different title, Herbert West: Reanimator.
Herbert West: Reanimator is being produced by Isle Empire Films, and – as reported previously – the story is a truer retelling of Lovecraft’s short story of the same name, Herbert West: Reanimator.
Director, co-writer, and co-star Serge Levin has promised to honor Lovecraft’s original vision; therefore, the film will share more characters from the short story as well as elements related to the story and the science presented within it. Major Sir Eric Moreland Clapham-Lee, a character from the source material, has already been confirmed.
According to Levin, this version will be “much darker, more thought-provoking, and definitely more grounded in science than the first adaptation.”
It was previously reported that Brad Dourif and Lin Shaye were attached to the project. No word yet on if things have changed. Producer/co-writer Johnathon Schaech is set to play Herbert West, while Levin will play his assistant.
At this moment in time, Stuart Gordon, Brian Yuzna, and Jeffrey Combs aren’t involved in any capacity. That being said, Levin hasn’t ruled out their future involvement should the stars align.
Synopsis:
Pursued by the police, an ambitious neuroscientist uses a neutrino impulse to bring his dead wife back to life, unintentionally unlocking within her dormant powers that threaten the existence of everyone he knows.
