Stephen King fans sure have a lot to look forward to. Along with his new novel 11/22/63, the eBook Mile 81, Carrie: The Musical‘s rebirth, and A&E’s upcoming Bag of Bones adaptation, two new short stories are being published this fall! Read on for the details of each.

Stephen KingPer Lilja’s Library, Granta Magazine‘s fall/winter issue will include King’s story “The Dune.” The issue, which is devoted to horror, no doubt in honor of Halloween, will be available for sale on October 27th and will also feature stories by Roberto Bolaño, Joy Williams, and Don DeLillo among others.

Second is “The Little Green God of Agony”, which will appear in the A Book of Horrors anthology containing all-original stories by some of the most successful and exciting names in modern horror fiction. Cemetery Dance reports that “the story is good old fashioned Gothic horror at its best!” Along with King, the authors include by Ramsey Campbell, Peter Crowther, Dennis Etchison, Elizabeth Hand, Brian Hodge, Caitlín R. Kiernan, John Ajvide Lindqvist, Richard Christian Matheson, Reggie Oliver, Robert Shearman, Angela Slatter, Michael Marshall Smith, and Lisa Tuttle.

Synopsis:
For the first time in many years, A Book of Horrors provides an original anthology of horror and dark fantasy in all its many and magnificent guises — from classic pulp-style tales of dark and stormy nights through more contemporary and psychological terrors to the type of cutting-edge fiction that only the very best horror fiction can deliver.

Brought together from around the world by World Fantasy Award-winning editor Stephen Jones, one of Britain’s most acclaimed and experienced anthologists of horror fiction, here are many of the authors who have helped shaped the genre in all of its forms, along with terrifying tales of unease by a new generation of storytellers devoted to the Dark Side.

But be warned: Once you begin to delve within these pages, your imagination and senses will be assaulted by terrors both grim and gruesome, literary and lethal, that will stay with you long after you have closed its covers and tried to put aside the images and situations which have wormed their way deep within your mind.

No other details on the stories are available, but that would spoil the fun anyway, right?
