Here at the Dread Central offices we have a tendency to ignore the ringing phone. Usually it’s because we’re duckin’ telemarketers or hordes of perverts calling day and night in hopes of getting tele-lucky™. (Pay your credit card bills and we’ll talk, deadbeat. We got mouths to feed). However, if it’s The Caller dialing in, we’ll answer in a hurry!
The Matthew Parkhill-directed thriller The Caller will be hitting select theatres on August 26th, 2011. Samuel Goldwyn Films is distributing. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will shoulder the DVD and Blu-ray release duties.
Rachel Lefevre (Twilight) stars in the film with “True Blood”‘s Stephen Moyer, Lorna Raver and Luis Guzman.
The Caller recently received an R rating for some violence/disturbing images, language and a scene of sexuality. Dig on the new trailer below the synopsis.
This supernatural thriller tells the story of troubled divorcee Mary Kee (Leferve), who is tormented by a series of sinister phone calls from a mysterious woman. When the stranger reveals she’s calling from the past, Mary tries to break off contact. But the caller doesn’t like being ignored and looks for revenge in a unique and terrifying way.
