Bryan Fuller Removed as Showrunner for American Gods Season 2
As sad as it is to admit, I didn’t check out “American Gods” when it aired this past year over on Starz! My bad. I know. I was just planning to get through the book first.
But that mother is a monster. Good shite though.
That said, I do plan on finishing the book soon and then checking up on the first season. But I might need to pick up the pace as it seems season two is moving right along…
And it will be doing so without showrunner Bryan Fuller.
But fear not, Fuller isn’t the only one that was let go for season two. Co-showrunner Michael Green also walked away from what io9 is calling “disagreements over budget and creative direction.”
What that seems to mean is the budget for season two was set at $10 million per episode (Jesus, please us) and evidently that wasn’t enough for Fuller and Green.
All of this drama aside, are you still excited for the second season of “American Gods”? Make sure to hit us up and let us know in the comments below or on social media!
Until we hear more about season two, you can always buy the first season on Blu-ray. Check out all the goodies included below.
Synopsis:
Based on a novel by Neil Gaiman, “American Gods” posits a different kind of war brewing—one between Old Gods and New. The traditional Old Gods, with mythological roots from around the world, fear irrelevance as their believers die off or are seduced by the money, technology, and celebrity offered by the New Gods. Shadow Moon (Whittle) is an ex-con who, left adrift by the recent death of his wife, becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to conman Mr. Wednesday (McShane). But in truth, Mr. Wednesday is a powerful old deity, on a cross-country mission to build an army and reclaim his lost glory.
